Welcome
My Name is Tiran (they/them)
Mindfulness and embodiment inform my work as a mental health provider and artist. In my practice I provide trauma informed relational attachment therapy from a Compassion focused lens that integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Somatic Experiencing (SE). I position this work in queer ecology, gender nihilism, movement optimism, and other liberation frameworks. I am mixed culturally and grew up between American-southern and Persian culture.
Before Gradient, I completed a BFA in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design with a minor in Nature Culture Sustainability Studies. I became a part of an arts community in New Orleans and ran a silkscreen printing business. I later completed a 450 hour field study certificate of desert plant medicine in New Mexico and helped people heal through food and plant medicine. In that role I noticed the healing potential of relational presence and chose to study counseling.
I completed my Masters in Mental Health Counseling specializing in Addiction at Lewis & Clark Graduate School. I helped people make change with behavioral addiction working in a community setting for 3 years. I meet the education and experience criteria of a CGACII, the highest behavioral addiction specialization in Oregon. I am honored to be working as an LPC in Oregon and LMHC in Washington.
These are some highlights in my journey, and I also continue to change!
A gradient can refer to a transition of light, color, or an incline in space. In counseling we cultivate grey area that softens 'black and white' thinking that arises from fear or trauma and creates suffering. The name 'Gradient' also references the spectrum of identities and contrasting experiences we hold inside.
My practice can take clients in Oregon and Washington.
